TIPS & TRICKS

  • I found it quite a bit easier to fold the salami slices over a shot glass; folding them over a hard surface makes this part a breeze.
  • After assembling the slices, reach in to the bottom of the glass and pinch the meat slices while twisting into a floral shape.
  • Using cold cheese slices when cutting out the heart shapes was much easier and cleaner than using cheese that is at room temperature.
  • Using a heart shape charcuterie board would have been even better!
  • Instead of laying the candies right on the board, you could fill heart shaped bowls with them instead.
  • Add nuts to this delicious board by filling small bowls and setting them on the board.

STORAGE TIPS

  • It’s easy to make this Valentines charcuterie in just the amount you need. However, if you are making larger beautiful boards for a Valentine’s Day party, you can store leftovers by removing the crackers, candies and cookies and refrigerating just the meat roses and cheese covered.
  • Store crackers, candies and cookies separately in plastic wrap.

Charcuterie Board FAQ’s

  • Boards usually follow a 3-3-3-3 rule, meaning you use 3 different types of each of the meats, cheese, nuts, and fruits. Breads too would fall in this category, if you are using them.
  • If you know any of the guests who have an allergy to nuts, you are of course better off to just exclude using them at all.
  • Common nuts to use on boards include walnuts, pecans, almonds, cashews and pistachios.
